Programme Overview
A 12-session programme that covers building resiliency, wellbeing, safety, and autonomy of choices in 1-1 sessions (or small tailored groups as appropriate). Young people will leave this programme with an individualised wellbeing plan. Delivered through trauma informed practice, this programme covers the following topics:
- Foundations: Starting the conversation.
- Who am I – values and strengths.
- Pillars of wellbeing – Te Whare Tapa Wha, with a focus on Taha Tinana (physical – anatomy, hygiene, contraception).
- Building healthy relationships – relationships and behaviours.
- Know yourself, respect others – stereotypes, personal boundaries, consent.
- Silence isn’t neutral – bullying and being a bystander.
- Behind the screen – digital safety.
- Substances and Safety – The effect of substances on the body, personal safety, peer-pressure.
- Science of emotions – Cycle of emotion, early warning signs, and tunnel vision.
- Managing Emotions – identifying emotions, primary versus secondary, self-management.
- Coping Strategies – strategies, refocusing, and cool-down contracts.
- Closing the loop: turning resilience into action – personal wellbeing plan.
